Brac Bank launches QR-based transactions via ‘ASTHA’ mobile app

Brac Bank has launched Quick Response (QR) based transactions through the “ASTHA” mobile application to provide its customers with the convenience of daily transactions.

It allows users to scan a QR from Brac Bank or QR from other banks displayed by merchant points and make instant payments, reads a press release issued today.

The bank’s VISA, Mastercard debit and credit cardholders can make payments with just a few clicks using “ASTHA”.

The QR transaction with the ASTHA app is a secure process requiring payment confirmation via a one-time password (OTP).

Brac Bank is the only bank to provide reward points in QR transactions linked to the bank’s debit cards.

Customers will earn one reward point for Tk100 transactions made through the QR platform.

Customers can avail the payment service from over 1,000 Brac Bank QR merchants across food, lifestyle, electronics, healthcare, department stores, automotive and travel categories across Bangladesh, and the bank is expanding quickly this QR acquisition network.

Customers can also use the Bangla QR platform of any other local bank in Bangladesh.

The bank offered 10 times more reward points on QR transactions during Ramadan through the ASTHA app linked to their credit and debit cards.

They can easily redeem these reward points through the bank’s 24/7 call center.

Commenting on the new service, the bank’s Head of Retail Banking, Mahiul Islam, said, “QR payment makes daily transaction easy, fast and secure. It provides more convenience as customers do not need to cards. cashless payment ecosystem. We believe that QR payment will play a vital role in paving the way for the country’s transition to a cashless society.”

“QR payments will see substantial adoption across multiple merchant categories and locations as we rapidly onboard new partners to our vast universe of merchants. As a customer-centric bank, we will continue to explore new services based on the technology to meet changing customer needs,” he added.
