Equity Bank has migrated its PayPal withdrawal service from the old web portal to Equity Mobile App and Equity Online, Equity’s online banking platform. This change is expected to increase the efficiency of Kenyans receiving payments through the international payment solution provider.

The move is expected to streamline the process of onboarding customers’ PayPal accounts and is now geographically scalable with additional services creating an enhanced experience to meet diverse customer needs.

Equity Bank, which currently offers the only 24-hour bank withdrawal service in the country, allows PayPal account holders to withdraw paid funds from their registered PayPal accounts directly to their Equity Bank accounts in KES or USD.

Gerald Warui, Managing Director of Equity Bank Kenya said, “Equity continues to implement its innovation and digitization strategy in line with the ONE Equity offering which aims to streamline customer experience across centralized platforms to facilitate access to services at their convenience”.

From the Equity or Equity Online mobile app, customers will be able to easily connect to the PayPal withdrawal service by linking their PayPal account to their bank account. The customer can then make a PayPal withdrawal to their Equity Bank account. This is an important milestone as Kenya prepares to accelerate the adoption of e-commerce and the adoption of digital payment models such as direct payments to their Equity accounts through PayPal.

Speaking on behalf of PayPal, Mark Mwongela, PayPal’s Director of Sales Development, Africa, said, “As PayPal, we are delighted to deepen our partnership with Equity to provide our customers with an enhanced service. Whether you’re an individual or a business, PayPal will get you paid in over 200 markets. ”

This development facilitates the customer journey by facilitating access to funds for businesses. Freelance writers, Kenyans with families abroad, those in the creative industry and MSMEs involved in cross-border trade stand to benefit from this service.
