A new era of mobile devices with blazing fast internet was ushered in with the inauguration of 5G services in India on Saturday, October 1. On the 5G network, the internet capacity and speed will be at least ten times that of the 4G network.

India has now joined a select club of countries, including the US, Korea, UK, Japan, China and countries in Europe, which are providing 5G networks.

The adoption of 5G technology will have a significant positive impact on society. It will be possible to achieve high data speeds, extremely low latency and extremely reliable communication.

Some of the places where this service has started operating include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Madras, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune. The 5G network has now been operational since October 1. Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea initially launched this service in India. At first, confirm that your outdated phone is compatible with 5G network.

Airtel first told its customers that they just need to make sure their mobile phone supports 5G technology rather than upgrade from their current 4G SIM card to a 5G card.

Here is how you can check if your phone supports 5G or not.

To check whether your phone is a 5G phone or not, Airtel users need to use their mobile device to go to Google Play and download the Airtel Thanks app. The 5G Plus banner will then appear on the app’s homepage when you subsequently launch it. Whether or not your phone supports 5G will be indicated here.

After tapping on the banner, a new page will open. If you live in one of the cities where this service was first offered, the company will explain. Additionally, the company will review the 5G compatibility of the mobile device. Airtel will now ask you to visit Settings. You can select 5G as your preferred network by clicking here to access the network tab in settings. After that, 5G signals will start reaching phones.
