Zapper now lets you accept card payments through your mobile phone

Mobile payment platform Zapper says merchants can now accept payments over the phone. The new feature gives them access to virtually any digital payment without the need for additional point-of-sale hardware and whether consumers have the Zapper app or not.

“After a successful pilot phase, we have rolled out a new feature available to all Zapper merchants that allows them to accept physical card payments as well as mobile wallet payments,” said Zapper CEO Brett White.

This includes Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Garmin Pay. All consumers in South Africa will be able to use the new payment option whether or not they have the Zapper consumer app on their phone.

The upgrade also supports pin-on-glass functionality, meaning consumers who have exceeded their verification limit can securely enter their PIN on the merchant’s Android smartphone and proceed with their transaction from there. same way they would on a normal PIN entry device when verifying. outside.

“Previously, our merchant app was primarily a tool for our merchants to get their payment confirmation feeds via push notification, in real-time, eliminating the need to wait for a text, email, or login. to the online merchant portal. It has also enabled merchants to quickly and easily generate a QR code or payment link. Now the app also turns the merchant’s phone into a point-of-sale device without the need for peripheral hardware extra,” White said.

“Our Zapper Merchant app will still allow shoppers to easily scan and pay the Zapper QR code generated by the app or tap and pay using their physical bank card or mobile wallet. The main focus of our latest offering is to ensure that our merchants can accept as many payment methods as possible.”

In addition to Zapper’s traditional scan-to-pay QR options, Zapper merchants are now able to accept a full suite of payment options. This includes vouchers, mobile wallets, and third-party options integrated into the Zapper network, including: Ozow; Buy it now and pay later options such as MoreTyme; a cryptocurrency in the form of 6dot50; and now card payments via the tap-on-phone offer – all via one account.
